Spectators at the World Beach Tchoukball Championships were treated to fantastic live performances from dancers, musicians and martial artists as the official Opening Ceremony took place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan yesterday evening. The Opening Ceremony was scheduled after some opening matches and World Champions Republic of China men played 3rd ranked Macau in a show match afterwards.
On the court, Republic of China was pushed hard by an excellent Macau side with a great performance by Danny Yao. Eventually, the experience of the ROC team and in particular Chih-Wei Lee led the reigning champions to victory.
Elsewhere, Argentina women continued their great start to the competition with a win against Malaysia with the Republic of China and Singapore women also undefeated.
In the battle of the newcomers, Cameroon beat New Zealand in the first match of the day but New Zealand beat South Korea later on for their maiden tchoukball win.
The Czech Republic beat Malaysia in a nail-biting game 47-46 whilst Poland lost their first game of the competition to Macau.
At the end of the 2nd day, Singapore and the Republic of China lead in the group stages.
